Dharwad Pedha
I hail (atleast my parents do) from North Karnataka. I recently had the opportunity to visit two places in North Karnataka. I attended a friend’s wedding in Hidkal. I was a little perplexed by the fact that there were not any elaborate rituals at wedding. It is strange because it is supposed to be a Lingayat wedding( am a Lingayat myself ). There’s no way it is as simple as the one I saw at the wedding. No matter, I think they made a lovely couple. The return from Hidkal to Blore was a night mare, my train ticket was on the waiting list and I had to actually travel from Hubli to Blore sittting in an awkward position.
A couple of days later I went to Karnatak University in Dharawad. I had never seen my University before, so I was quite looking forward to it. I must say my job of getting my marks cards attested was surprisingly easy. Way to go Karnatak University, you are a star. Usually people at colleges and universities are very unhelpful and have uttermost disregard for anything that constitutes work. I really like Dharwad though. Such a tiny little place and how nicely they speak my kind of Kannad. Adorable. And I bought the famous Dharwad pedha there. If you are wondering which shop is the one that actually sells the famous Dharwad Pedha it is Babusingh’s Thakur Pedha, this one’s opposite to the bus stand. There’s also Mishra Pedha and others but this is the original one. And I must they are quite tasty. Not too sugary or ghee laden. Just right.
And there quite a few hotties for such a small town. Bangalore has largely ugly population although the ones that are cute are very very hot. But Dharwad’s sexy. Hot hot, totally hot.
