The great Indian race
We Indians almost never see ourselves on racial lines. We have a far important division based on caste in which we are born. That is why it is so important that one marries into their own caste, so that the child can be readily identified for appropriate discrimination.
Having said that, it’s only the masses that are unaware of racial differences. The British, cunning little foxes as they are, put in a lot of effort to study the racial differences within the Indians(the Hindus especially). But their studies were often flawed and geared towards division of Hindus. Nevertheless, We have much to thank them for. I have no doubt in mind that Hindus are a mixed bunch of races.
So here we go, from what I gather there are mainly two races that make up the Hindu population:-
1) Aryan prototype (supposedly tall, light skinned, sharp featured, prominent nose, smaller eyes, much like the Iranians, but very bright).
2) Dravidic prototype (supposedly short, dark skinned, rounder features, larger eyes, brainy).
The general theory that makes round on the internet is North Indians are derived of Aryan prototype and the Southern ones are of Dravidic prototype. Except its a big fat lie. Heres a more realistic picture:-
1) The pure Aryan prototype is very small in number. Their numbers are concentrated in Punjab, Haryana and Kashmir (the Hindu ones). Our bollywood heroes are generally of Aryan prototype for some reason, (Hrithik, Ranbir , Raj kapoor, ).
2) The pure Dravidic numbers are also small but defintely much larger than pure Aryan prototype. These are surprisingly not concentrated in one region. Tamil nadu and Orissa I think have the largest of these prototypes. But make no mistake their presence is there in all states. They are spread across the country and speak various languages. (Ex:- Any political leader of tamil nadu, take a good look at “mass” people from Orissa and even West Bengal, Andhra)
3) The largest in number are that which have mixed characteristics . Skin colour varies from dark to very light but features remain dravidic (Ex:- Milind Soman, Ajay Devgan, Kamal Hasan, Shahid Kapoor)
The women of India are generally, of Dravidic prototype (chubby cheeks, large eyes) even in Punjab and Haryana, unlike Iran where women have similar facial features like that of their men. Some examples:- Hemamalini, Maushami Chatterji, Priyanka Chopra, well almost every Bollywood actress. I cant think of too many female Aryan prototypes, but Nargis comes close. Sonam Kapoor, Soha Ali Khan, Vidya Balan . There arent too many. BTW Nargis is muslim and Soha is mixed.
The third albeit less prominent race in Indians is the Mongol prototype. Generally concentrated in West Bengal (Hello Didi) and North East. But they either follow tribal religions or christian. They are actually nice people but get discriminated against a lot because Mongol features are considered not-so-Indian.
The popular belief that all North Indians are of Aryan prototype is a lie. Most people have mixed features with a stronger tilt towards Dravidic prototype. To believe all tamils are of dravidic prototype is folly. Ironically Vidya Balan is a Tamil Iyer who comes closest to the female Aryan prototype.
